FireWise Cleanup

June 18, 2018 @ 8:00 am - June 22, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

Tallulah Falls Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce that the Town of Tallulah Falls has received a $5,000 FireWise Grant to be used to help make our town more FireWise. To see how you can make your homes more FireWise, please check out these links:

If you are interested in helping keep our community FireWise, please follow the recommendations in the links above and we will help you by disposing of the yard debris generated by your efforts. Beginning June 18th and lasting through June 22nd, we will be having a crew coming by to collect any NATURALLY VEGETATIVE debris along the road ways around town. This means that all you have to do is make your homes more FireWise, and simply drag or carry your debris to the road side for pickup. The branches, leaves, and other naturally occurring vegetation will then be hauled to a central location to be chipped up and turned to mulch.

Why mulch? Well, we’re glad you asked! The Town is also now a member of Tree City USA, and would like to offer the resulting mulch pile to all of our residents to be used in nurturing the health and growth of your trees and shrubs by retaining moisture in the soil. This not only helps keep trees and shrubs healthy, it also makes your home more FireWise by keeping them hydrated and less susceptible to adding to the fuel load of a wildland fire.

We do have one condition……..any home owner wanting to participate in this project will need to take before and after photographs for us to submit with the paperwork and documentation needed to fulfill the requirements of this grant opportunity.

If you have any questions, please contact Mike Early or Bill Goatcher.

And thank you for keeping our town FireWise.
